Ice Cream & The Pictures - 1st Weekend of Dec @ Friday, December 13, 2013
Ice-cream Appreciation Masterclass at Helados Jauja
The One Created for V'Day - Rosewater & Pistachio
Goat's Milk with Cranberrries & Walnuts
White Chocolate Raspberry
What jas had. That's not Neapolitan. But that is definitely chocolate.
On the way there. Didn't buy a doughnut.
Free samples at the station, plane size!
Out there Linda is a lucky lady.
Saw the Silver Angel aka the White Lady.
Afterwards we went to a couple parks, scouting for a location for an event.
Park no. 2
Nice, but the bathroom is too far away.
Location no.3 - Not a park but this place is almost perfect.
There's nice grass, shade, bathrooms, picnic tables.
But the top picture is also out front a library...
Some ideas, confetti balloons. Flying as always.
Love these wraps! Unfortunately our caterer doesn't do them.
Dinner with le beau - Spaghetti with Meatballs.
He cooks, I bake a little. We went to see/hear Dvork's New World Symphony.
It was magical! As almost always. First heard it in 'Barbie as Rapunzel.'
Love this colour and that dress on the left. But this shop is never open when we happen to be in town. :( One day we shall stop by when they're open! Just remember, I have a blue dress in that shade! But have never worn it as it's in the 'to be altered' box.
We went to Palace Cinema Como, it was pretty and elegant! There were big ornate mirrors, a gallery of them, different sizes on a background of curtain. There was one in particular I loved. It would be the perfect wedding present *hint*. Floor to ceiling (though I'm certain the ceiling was visually lowered). Something the EQ would have in her room.
The colour theme is black and gold, and the style is lavish: giant black columns, black drapes and diaphanous curtains, black carpet with floral details, chandeliers of blown glass as dark as blackberries. Intimate clusters of coffee tables, arm chairs and couches are moodily lit by gold silk lamps. The furniture is a harmonious clash of chinoiserie, faux crocodile, sumptuous velvet and solid marble.
This is the mirror I want, but bigger. That one had really bad lighting.
This is lovely. At night we shall cover it up, yes I'm afraid of reflective surfaces at night. :P
Dark walls are decorated with antique-style mirrors with glossy black frames - some mirrors are gigantic, others small, creating a warped sense of scale and perspective. It's all a little Alice in Wonderland. Created by Hecker Guthrie - Interior & Furniture Designers located in Melbourne
We went to see The Gilded Cage ( "La cage dorée") . An upstairs-downstairs Parisian comedy about an immigrant couple - José, a builder, and Maria, a maid - who inherit a property back in Portugal, which provides them the chance to return to the homeland they left 30 years ago. But the pair are so well-loved by the community (and indispensable to their bosses) that family, neighbours, friends and employers are soon outdoing each other to find ways to prevent Maria and José from leaving.
It was very good, I liked it and would recommend it to anyone who likes French films, and comedies. Love when they decorated their place and it was lit with lots of candles and they used white linen.
Though the best scene was where girl tells guy she's pregs, gasp shock horror overjoyed. Never have I seen a man with so much emotion! In such a short time.
Before the movie "we" went for take-away. SpudBar, I got the classic. Really like it, same as last time but with the original yellow potato rather than a sweet potato. Next time I'm asking for extra sour cream. Why isn't there one in the city? Not pictures as take-away doesn't get that many point for presentation.
What did you get up to on the weekend?
Goldilocks Lunch Box Delivery - Christmas Edition @ Thursday, December 12, 2013
Thursday 5th December
This week's 'new place' we're trying is 'Goldilocks Lunch Boxes', it's a 3 piece lunch box delivered to your office for $15 (that what I've read, though this week it was $17.50).
It's a weekly thing, each week it's a different theme, there's a carnivore version and herbivore. You could custom it a little, but requesting omission of an ingredient or two (I don't like that vegetable leaf with the purple stem).
There's always something big, something small and something sweet.
Something Big - Cannings Free Range Smoked Turkey Breast, with Camembert, Cranberry, and Organic Salad Greens on Dench Multigrain
Cheessy me likely! This was much bigger than it looks, that or I have a small appitite. I like it, though I'd like more cranberry. Would I buy it at a cafe? No, I could make this at home. But they do have other weeks with other things I can't make. :)
Something Small - Fresh Summer Fruits
A lot of grapes, two strawberries, a cherry and a raspberry. These were either unwashed (but not dirty) or immaculately washed & dried. While I'd like to think the later, I think it might be the prior. Yes I did wash this before I ate it.
Something Sweet - Dulce De Leche mini tartlet with Cinnamon & Ginger Spice Shortbread Shortbread Crust, topped with Macadamia Christmas Praline! This was lovely! Wished it was bigger :P. I've never had anything like it, and it's the perfect little treat.
They do deliveries Wed-Fri, depending on your location. I assume you could get it delivered to the state libraray (sit outsite, no food inside) if you don't have an address in the city. Though the delivery times are somewhere between 11am - 1.30pm, so bring a book and some work to do.
They start in North Carlton (towards the Museum) and well I'm not sure what their route is... Today like yesterday it was cold, wet, windy and around 1pm it hailed. Great view from up high. Or suggled up safe in bed like Mr French Chef. I'd thought they start near Flinders but alas that was not the case, I got my lunch at 1.25pm. Amazingly the delivery guy got parking (there is no parking anywhere near Flinders).
Every (operating week) you get an email early on in the week of the menu, and you can order it online, payment online or cash on delivery (COD) please have close to the correct change though. :) Here's the link to sign up.
Pictures of Past Lunch Boxes, because if you're like me you like pictures. :P

Thursday - The City (incl. Docklands & South Bank)

Have you ever had lunch delivered to the office?
By your partner or the pizza guy doesn't count. :P
Daiso on Flinders @ Tuesday, December 10, 2013
On a Thursday in November Lily & I went to the opening of another Daiso in the City, on Flinders St near Elizabeth Street. So now there's three in the city all within walking distance of the station, Bourke St Underground, QV and now Flinders.
There were mini cupcakes. Chocolate orange.
It's located between Metro Baguette & Cititel Hotel. Upstairs.
Everything is $2.80.
They sell origami paper.
And boxes. I love this pattern, Cath Kidston-esque.
Things with hearts I love.
These would be nice for gifting cakes, cupcakes, cookies etc.
Dots, lots of them. :P
Wrapping paper. Daiso has these two as part of their pattern collection.
For lots of items, from boxes and gift wrap to bins and spades.
Ties for Party Bags. &.Party Bags, Clear has 30 bags, others have less.
Gatsby boards, great for collages and signs at events.
Notebooks with Dots.
Origami Paper. Can't makes cranes. :(
Bunny Ears & Big Bowls. They needs to get a red sequin one.
Costuming Hats, a bit harder than felt, meh quality. Cops, dandies, pirates and cowboys.
Beads, all plastic.
Lace boarders in black & white. Felt! These are great value, if only they had these
back when I went through my felt phrase (never actually completed a project).
Iron on Lovlies. Beading kits (shall try soon), clear elastic string, paper punches.
More Iron ones.
Boards, for collages, one side sticky optional.
Paper Clipboards. Pretty like Kikki K, function and durable if not at the desk? No.
Clay Projects. Shame they don't have a multi-colour box.
Leaves and flowers. Great for a Greek Gods Headpiece.
Foam flowers! Idk why they're called 'lame'... lost in translation?
They come in baby pink, tangerine orange and a creamy white.
If only they had red, royal blue and black.
Here's a better white lighting picture. This one's $6-ish. You'd save so much
on flowers going DIY and with foam you can even keep them too!
